Understanding PRP

What Is Ovarian PRP?

Ovarian PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is an emerging regenerative fertility treatment designed to support ovarian function in women with low egg reserve, diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), poor IVF response, or age-related egg quality decline.

The procedure involves drawing a small sample of your own blood, processing it to concentrate platelets and growth factors, and carefully injecting that platelet-rich plasma into the ovaries. Platelets contain signaling proteins and growth factors that may stimulate tissue repair, angiogenesis (blood vessel formation), and cellular activation.

While Ovarian PRP is not a guarantee of improved egg quantity or quality, it may enhance ovarian biologic activity in carefully selected patients. It is considered an adjunctive option for women who want to explore innovative strategies before or between IVF cycles.

Is This Right for You?

Who May Bea Candidate?

Ovarian PRP may be considered for women who face specific fertility challenges where conventional approaches alone have been insufficient:

  1. Low AMH or diminished ovarian reserve
  2. Poor ovarian response in prior IVF cycles
  3. Few mature eggs despite high stimulation doses
  4. Over age 40 with age-related ovarian decline
  5. Seeking additional strategies before pursuing donor eggs

Only aneuploid embryos in previous IVF cycles

Precision-Based Care

Part of aGoldilocksIVF™ Strategy

At Fleura Fertility, Ovarian PRP is not used as a stand-alone solution, but as part of a broader precision-based fertility plan. Dr. Jenn evaluates ovarian reserve markers, prior cycle response, stimulation dosing, trigger timing, and embryo development patterns before recommending PRP.

When appropriate, Ovarian PRP may be used as a priming strategy prior to IVF, with the goal of optimizing ovarian responsiveness in a subsequent cycle. This approach aligns with the Goldilocks IVF™ philosophy — carefully calibrating stimulation to achieve the right number of mature, high-quality eggs.

The Procedure

What to Expect

Ovarian PRP is performed in-office using ultrasound guidance. Patients can usually resume normal activity shortly afterward.

01

Blood Draw

A small sample of your blood is drawn, similar to a routine lab visit.

02

PRP Processing

Your blood is processed in a specialized centrifuge to isolate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma containing growth factors.

03

Ultrasound-Guided Injection

The concentrated PRP is carefully injected into each ovary under real-time ultrasound guidance. The technique is similar to an egg retrieval, though shorter in duration.

04

Monitoring & Assessment

After the procedure, hormone levels and ovarian response are monitored to assess potential changes before proceeding with the next phase of fertility treatment.

Important to Know

ImportantConsiderations

Ovarian PRP is considered investigational in reproductive medicine, and outcomes can vary. It does not reverse ovarian aging, but in select patients, it may improve ovarian responsiveness or cycle performance. Careful patient selection and expert protocol design are essential.

During your consultation, Dr. Jenn will discuss whether Ovarian PRP is appropriate for your individual case and how it may fit into your overall fertility strategy.

For women facing low egg reserve or age-related fertility challenges, Ovarian PRP may offer an additional pathway within a carefully designed IVF plan.

Common Questions

Ovarian PRP FAQ

Ovarian PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a regenerative fertility treatment that uses your own blood-derived growth factors, injected into the ovaries under ultrasound guidance, to potentially support ovarian function in select patients with diminished reserve or poor prior response.

Ovarian PRP is considered investigational in reproductive medicine and is not FDA-approved as a standalone fertility treatment. Dr. Jenn will discuss the current evidence, limitations, and whether it may be appropriate for your individual case.

When appropriate, Ovarian PRP may be used as a priming strategy before IVF — not as a stand-alone solution — with the goal of optimizing ovarian responsiveness in a subsequent cycle as part of a broader Goldilocks IVF™ plan.

The number of sessions varies by patient. Dr. Jenn evaluates your ovarian reserve markers, prior cycle response, and treatment history before recommending a personalized PRP protocol.

After the procedure, hormone levels and ovarian response are monitored to assess potential changes before proceeding with the next phase of fertility treatment. Timing varies by individual.

The technique is similar to an egg retrieval, though shorter in duration. Ovarian PRP is performed in-office using ultrasound guidance, and patients can usually resume normal activity shortly afterward.

Ovarian PRP does not reverse ovarian aging. In carefully selected patients, it may improve ovarian responsiveness or cycle performance — but it is not a guarantee of improved egg quantity or quality.
